The John Roan School
The John Roan School was designed in 1926 by Sir Banister Fletcher and is located at the eastern boundary of Greenwich Park, a UNESCO world heritage site. Kirkwood McLean worked with the John Roan Foundation to help restore the building facade and to undertake a modern adaptation of the schools main hall. The works also include the redesign of the schools memorial garden.
The project balances the needs of the building’s traditional character with the desire for the Foundation to offer their students and the wider community use of a modern, sophisticated performance space; creating a new heart for the school.
